Whitmire Canvas Company was named after the late Ken Whitmire, a legendary portrait artist whose work is recognized nationwide. The Whitmire family helped pioneer the canvas process in the 1960s using the original McDonald canvas mount system which we are still using today. It is, in a sense, an imperfect science where every roll of canvas varies in texture and requires special attention. Ward Whitmire, Ken's son, is our current canvas expert bringing over 30 years of canvassing experience to our clients.
Tavis and Amy have had a successful portrait studio since 2008 and they have extensive knowledge about canvassing and what clients are looking for. These two took ownership of Whitmire Canvas in 2017 and they're very excited to continue the Whitmire legacy and continue offering the same amazing quality.
Our philosophy is simple.
We specialize in ONE product type:

(and we believe it's the best in the nation.)

We are in love with the lacquering and brush stroking from an artist. It's definitely a premium product that our clients appreciate and repeatedly invest in. We are huge fans of these canvases and our clients are too! It's no wonder this company has the best reputation among portrait artists - Memory Montage Photography
We chose Whitmire Canvas because they are the best quality we could find with solid wood stretcher bars and painter quality canvas. Each one is truly a one of a kind custom piece of art! We love that they are handmade by talented craftsmen with special touches like glazing and brush strokes. Our clients want their family portrait to be an heirloom to pass down to their children and this is a product we can confidently stand behind because it will last. - Love Photography
